New coach, captains motivate soccer team

The men’s soccer team has had a slow beginning to their season with a record of 0-2, losing to Orange and Athens Drive. The team hopes that new assistant coach Jose Santibanez from Triangle United Soccer Club will help them improve their record.

“Our new coach runs a lot of new drills that work us in ways we have not been worked before,” senior Collin Hutson said. “He always mixes it up.”

Apart from taking advantage of the experienced addition to the coaching staff, the team looks to the captains to lead the team to a winning record.

“Our captains really help us get motivated, they’re going to be a key between a good or bad record,” Hutson said.

The captains are seniors Cameron McNeill and Danny Brossart as well as juniors Jake MacMillan and Jose Garcia. They are finding ways to keep the team in shape and motivated for conference play.

“We try to always keep the team on top of its game so we can do well in our conference matches,” Brossart said.

Come out to Middle Creek High School on Wednesday, Sep. 4 and support the men’s soccer team at 6:30.
